BATESVILLE – Betty McCarty Gunter, 72, died on Friday August 24, 2012 at the Golden Living Nursing Home in Batesville.

Services were held Sunday at Williams and Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. Burial was in Poplar Springs Cemetery in Carroll County. Larry Shackleford officiated.

She was born on December 28, 1939 to the late John and Mary Lee McCarty in Choctaw County and resided in the Leflore and Attala County most of her life.

She was retired from Baldwin Piano and was a member of the Faith Outreach.

Survivors include: four daughters, Kathy Harris of Carrollton, Janet Chaney of Pope, Vickie Patterson of Greenwood and Patricia Gunter of Jackson; two sisters, Carolyn McCrory of Carmack, and Mary Alice Dees of Ethel,  eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

BATESVILLE – Barney Earl Pittman, 80, died Sunday, August 26, died at Darlington Oaks Hospice in Verona.

Services were held Monday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

Survivors include: one daughter, Debra Gail Pittman Sayles of Batesville; two sons, Melvin Maurice Pittman of Teasdale and David Earl Pittman of Hollandale; three sisters, Marids Inez Sanders of Houma, La., Martha Ray Brown of Thibodaux, La. and Carolyn Ann Floyd of Columbia, La.; one brother, Clarence William Pittman of Teasdale and seven grandchildren.
