Laura Sue Adamson South, 78, passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, at Panola Medical Center in Batesville.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church with the interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, July 20,  from 5 – 7 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church on Thursday morning.

Laura was born March 20, 1944 in Birmingham to the late Hillis Herbert and Geraldine Phillips Adamson. She spent over twenty years as a 3rd grade teacher assistant for South Panola Schools. Laura was an active and faithful member of Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church for which she loved. In her down time, Laura enjoyed many things, reading a good book, listen to gospel music, scrolling Facebook and watching church services just to name a few.

She had a servant’s heart and spent many hours cooking and providing meals for other people. Most of all, Laura loved her entire family and spent as much quality time with all her grandchildren as possible.

Her loving memory will be missed most by her husband, Donnis South of Batesville; daughter, Dana (Roger) Howell of Enid; two sons, Rev. Donnie (Cathy) South of Canton,  Daryl (Tracey) South of Oxford; two sisters, Sandy (Mike) Palmer of Jacksonville, FL, Janice Patrick of Munford, TN; eleven grandchildren, David (Kia), Jonathan (Alecia), Michael, Will (Candice), Jordan (Shelby), Emily, Bailey (Greg), Joseph (Kristen), Jake, Blakleigh, Blair (Raymond) and nineteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Abbigail; great-granddaughter, Sophie and two siblings, Lee Adamson and Linda Morphis.
