Sis Long, 97

Sis Long,  97, passed away peacefully at her home in Batesville surrounded by her family  on the afternoon of May 11, 2022.

Funeral services were Sunday, May 15, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The interment was at McCurtains Baptist Church Cemetery in Eupora.

Sis was born on January 14, 1925 to the late Selvin and Ethel Sheedy Simpson in Choctaw County. She was the former owner of Merle Norman in Batesville for almost 40 years.

Sis was a longtime, faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Batesville. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing bridge and traveling. Sis was always on the go. She was a devoted Christian, as well as a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending as much time as she could with all of her family.

The family she leaves behind includes her two daughters, Pat Miller (Frank) of Winona,  and Belinda Mothershed (Fred) of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Olivia Grayson (Rich), Meredith Meurrier (Michael), and Chelsea McKnight (Matthew); and 8 great grandchildren, Henry McCormack, Myla Meurrier, Selah Meurrier, Ramsey Meurrier, George Grayson, Miles Grayson, Emma McKnight, and Amelia McKnight; and her three precious caregivers, Valerie Burchfield, Mary Pearl Jones and Linda Lee.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by one grandson, Peyton McCormack; 8 brothers, and 2 sisters.
