Tommy was born July 6, 1946 in Senatobia  to the late Luther Herman and Mamie Kerr Wells. He attended Senatobia High School and went on to receive degree from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in 1968. While in mortuary school,

Tommy met and later married his wife, Dorothy Wilson, in 1968. Following mortuary school, he had a dream of owning his own funeral home. After working at several funeral homes, Tommy took a leap of faith and moved to Batesville to establish Wells Funeral Home, Inc. in 1978.

He worked extremely hard and dedicated many hours and sleepless nights to build a reputation of “Service with Dignity,” which he hung his hat on. He continued this type of service for over 40 years in Batesville before he was able to finally retire and enjoy the fruits of his labor.

He enjoyed so much in life, from going to the lake, snow skiing, traveling and spending time with his many friends he had all over the country. Tommy held his private pilot license, and would use this over the years to help return a grieving families loved one back home in his own private plane. He was dedicated to serving the people of Batesville and Panola County  from the beginning, no matter when or where.

Tommy loved sports. He was the voice of the North Delta Green Wave for many years where he had many memorable moments. Tommy also enjoyed following the Ole Miss Rebels.

Tommy leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Dorothy “Dottie” Wilson Wells of Batesville,  two sons, Thomas Locke Wells and his wife, Kris, of Tupelo, and Chris W. Wells and his wife Heather of Batesville; six grandchildren, Mackenzie Wells, Wesley Wells, Layton Wells, Emily Wells, Jensen Wells and Landry Wells and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by three sisters, Herma Lee Wells Anderson, Dorothy “Dot” Wells Waller Barker, Betty Wells McGee and one brother, William Adrian “Billy” Wells.

The family would like to personally thank Baptist Memorial Hospital of North MS in Oxford and Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo  for their loving and tender care they extended to him.
