Martha Gaines,  62, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022 at her home in Courtland.

Funeral services for Martha will be held at 1  p.m. on Monday, Feb. 7,  in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Eureka Private Cemetery in Courtland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service beginning at noon.

Martha was born on March 7, 1959 to Betty Jean Browning and the late Wilbur Ray Manning in New Albany. Before she retired, she worked as a personal care assistant at Providence Assisted Living, where she compassionately cared for everyone at the facility.

Martha was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church and had a special love for flowers and gardening. She also had a deep and special love for her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them outside while they played, and spending time with all of her family. Martha also loved to cook, especially trying out new recipes and watching all the cooking shows on television.

The family she leaves behind to cherish her sweet memory include her children, Amanda Manning of Courtland, and Daniel Gaines (Casey) of Coffeeville; three siblings, Terrie Harwood (Terry), David Manning (Beverly), and Darrell Manning (Renee) all of Batesville; her mother, Betty Jean Manning of Batesville; three grandchildren, Caleb Calloway, Savannah Watts, and Anna Claire Gaines; and two great grandchildren, William Franks and Carson Calloway.

Along with her father, Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Danny Gaines; and two children, Brandi Smith and Michael Gaines.
