Joe McGehee, 66, passed away Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at his home in Pope.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Joe’s life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville.

Joe was born on Sept. 25, 1955, to the late Joe Sanders McGehee, Sr. and Evelyn Roberson McGehee in Memphis. He worked hard as a millwright by trade and stayed on the road often while working. Joe also worked at ACI Building Systems for 25 years and at Crown Cork and Seal. When he was not working, he love to spend time with his precious grandchildren. Joe also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming.

The family he leaves behind includes his wife, Peggy Mills McGehee of Pope; his three daughters, Emily McGehee Gaines (Preston) of Courtland, Erika McGehee Jaco (Austin) of Batesville, and Melissa McGehee of Memphis; one brother, Jake McGehee (Claudette) of Batesville; one sister, Michele McGehee of Batesville; 6 grandchildren, Clayton, Joseph, Avery, Jason, Jacob, and Julianna; and 2 great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, James “Jimmy” McGehee.
