J.W. Luttrell, 79

J.W. Luttrell, 79, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, at the Methodist Olive Branch Hospital.

Funeral services will be 1  p.m. on Friday, Aug. 6, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Courtland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral.

J.W. was born on Aug.t 7, 1941, to the late Joshua G. and Mamie Weeks Luttrell in Panola County. He was a truck driver for over 30 years and had a special love for music. J.W. would play in bands with his friends, in which he could sing, play the guitar and the fiddle. He was a huge Merle Haggard fan and enjoyed listening to his music. J.W. was also a Master Mason at Panola Lodge 66 and a Wahhabi Shriner.

The family he leaves behind includes his two children, Carol Ann Massey (Jimmy) of Enid, and James W. Luttrell, Jr. (Pamela) of Selmer, TN; two sisters, Nellie Ramberg and Sarah Swan; two brothers, Wayne Luttrell and Alpha Luttrell; 7 grandchildren, Joshua G. Luttrell of Memphis,  Justin G. Luttrell of Memphis, Tiffany Luttrell of Brighton, TN, Tripp Massey (Jade) of Southaven, Hillary Swihart (Kevin) of Albuquerque, NM, Courtney Massey of Albuquerque, NM, and Joseph Massey of Enid; 4 great grandchildren, Devin Luttrell, Gavin Luttrell, Hunter Luttrell, and Alice Swihart.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Georgia Hancock, Mary Turner, and Betty Rayburn; and one brother, Thomas Luttrell.
