Cathleen “Cathy” Wood, 70, passed away Friday, June 25, 2021, at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale.

Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Monday, June 28, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow at Black Jack Cemetery near Batesville. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service.

Cathy was born Nov. 30, 1950, in Ogden, UT to the late Franklin Wood and Margaret Bevell Wood. She was born into this world mentally challenged. Cathy has been a longtime resident of Delta Manor in Clarksdale. Cathy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Cathy was a sweet girl who loved children and holding little babies. She loved her family very much. She would get so excited when Bobby and Barbara would come visit her. Cathy always looked forward to when they came, because she knew that meant going to Burger King and a shopping trip to Wal-Mart.

Delta Manor had a training site that she enjoyed. Cathy really loved Christmas and looking at the beautiful lights and just being with family.

Cathy’s sweet loving memory will be cherished by longtime caregivers, Bobby and Barbar Helmes of Batesville, Cindy Leege of Batesville; nephew, Jay Smith of Athens, OH; and numerous relatives and cousins.

Along with her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her grandparents, James Blaine and Annie Wilson Bevell; one sister, Annie Woods Driver.
