Wayne Belk will retain his seat as Election Commissioner (District 3) after beating challenger Gloria Tucker in the Panola County election on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Belk led the in-person voting at the precincts by a total of 1,794  to 1,214. After the 484 absentee votes were counted, Belk led 2,065 to 1,427. Belk won 60 percent of the in-person votes, and 56 percent of the absentees.

In the race, there were 3,494 votes cast at the five precincts located in District 3 and by absentee at the Courthouse.

Belk was first elected Commissioner in 2016.

The results are still listed as unofficial, along with all the others on the 2020 General Election ballot, and will become official once certified by local election officials and submitted to the Secretary of State’s Office. The county has 10 days to certify the results.
