New cases in Panola County, almost 1,500 statewide now

This morning MSDH is reporting 2 new cases of confirmed coronavirus infection in Panola County bringing the county total to 10. The county has no reported nursing home cases, a statistic the state began to noting and publishing this week.

In neighboring counties: Quitman has 5 cases, Yalobusha has 9 cases, Lafayette has 21, Tallahatchie has 2, and Tate has 14.

A few miles further, Coahoma has 27 and DeSoto has 118.

Statewide there are 97 new cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi. Six new deaths have also been confirmed. Coronavirus cases have been identified in 30 long-term care facilities around the state, most in the past week. The total of Mississippi’s cases since March 11 now stands at 1,455, with 35 deaths.
