The MS Delta Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited had a successful inaugural year in 2019 and has already begun to make plans for another banner season in 2020.

Chapter president Will Parrish said the effort to join Panola, Lafayette, Yalobusha, Quitman, and Tallahatchie Counties for a Whitetails Unlimited club was a positive move because the larger group allowed for a better banquet and more donations to kickoff the 2019-20 season.

Parrish and others are taking donations and door prizes now for the next banquet slated for September at the Batesville Civic Center. The events are an opportunity for area hunters and outdoorsmen to introduce the world of hunting into the lives of children, Parrish said.

Receiving checks for $1,225 from the proceeds were the 4H Shooting Promas in Panola and Quitman County, the program at Lafayette County Schools,  and the Water Valley High School Archery in the Schools Program.

The Tallahatchie County and Yalobusha County 4H programs also received checks for $500 each, and all officers of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks who participated were given Spypoint cell phone cameras. The cameras will be used to help the MDWFP with poaching issues and with wildlife criminal investigations in the chapter counties.

Parrish said Game and Fish officers from Coahoma and Bolivar Counties were also included in the banquet as he hopes to bring participants from those areas into the MS Delta Chapter. For more information about the chapter, or to help with donations and door prizes, contact Parrish at 662-934-0459.
