James Clifton “Ro” Bullard, Sr.

James Clifton “Ro” Bullard, Sr., 84, of Harmontown, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019, at The Blake in Oxford.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 23,  in the Senatobia Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral Home.  Interment was in Bethesda Cemetery. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.

He was a graduate of University of Mississippi School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor Degree.  Mr. Bullard practiced law in Kennet, Mo., for over 50 years before he and his wife Sherry, returned to Ole Miss territory and the land he loved.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of forty-three years, Sherry Bullard, of Harmontown; two daughters, Melinda Bullard Holt (Stockton), of Charlotte, N.C. and Melanie Bullard Todd (Mike), of Harmontown; two sons, Andrew Clayton Bullard (Sonja), of Kennett, Mo., and James Clifton Bullard, Jr. (Megan), of Memphis; and five grandchildren, Rachel Suzanne Bullard, of Germantown, Tenn., Taylor Holt and Owen Holt, both of Charlotte, James “Jamie” Todd, of Oxford, and Anna Kay Todd, of Harmontown.

 

Gene Darby

Gene Darby, age 80, passed away surrounded by his family Thursday morning, Dec. 19, 2019. at his home in Courtland.

A graveside service was held Friday, Dec. 20, at 2:30 p.m. at Shiloh Cemetery near Courtland and Rev. Morgan Spencer officiated. Those serving as pallbearers include Jeff Darby, Jay Darby, Phil Tidwell, Kenny Gaines, Chad Darby, and Michael Darby.

Gene was born to the late Morris Albert Darby and Mary Frances Murphree in Panola County. He was a self-employed electrician and a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church.

When Gene was not working, he enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He was known as a hard-working man who will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Joyce Darby, of Courtland; his two sons, Jeff Darby (Debre), of Courtland, and Jay Darby (Cindy), of Senatobia; his daughter, Genelle Scott (Jim), of Oxford; one brother, Bill Darby (Sandra), of Batesville; six grandchildren, Jennifer Marquez (Adam), Chad Darby (Meg), Michael Darby (Layci), Whit Darby, Jay Scott, and Casey Sisk (Will); and five great grandchildren, Isabel Marquez, Darby Marquez, Georgia Sisk, Baylor Sisk, and baby boy Darby.

 

Gaeba Magness Gray

Gaeba Magness Gray, age 56, passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2019 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.

The family will gather to celebrate Gaeba’s life on Saturday, Dec. 28  at 2:00 P.M. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. The family will be receiving friends prior to the service beginning at noon.

Gaeba was born January 30, 1963 in Batesville, to the late L. Jones Barnett and Eleanor Neely Barnett White. She was a member of Goodhope Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling and spending as much time with her granddaughter, Maelee. Most in the community remember Gaeba from the Panola County Courthouse in Batesville,  as she served many years as a Deputy Tax Assessor and later went on work for Northwest Community College on the Oxford Campus.

Gaeba’s sweet and kind spirit will live on through her husband, Steven L. Gray of Batesville; son, Jeremy B. Magness of Batesville; brother, Jason Barnett of Batesville; aunt, Ruth Foster of Hernando, MS; granddaughter, Maelee Magness of Batesville.

Along with her parents, Gaeba was preceded in death by her first husband, Phillip B. Magness.

 

Russell Truman Gray, Jr.

Russell Truman Gray, Jr., 80, passed away Sunday, Dec.  22, 2019, at his

daughter’s home in Batesville.

A private graveside service was held Monday, Dec 23.  He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division.

After serving his country, he worked as an accountant. Wells Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his daughters, Patricia Gray Neal (Bubba), of Batesville, and Kimberly Crenshaw Slaughter, of Columbus; one son, Thomas Glen Crenshaw, Jr. (Kim), of Batesville; his sister, Shirley Lucille Gray McDonald (Buddy), of Eudora; one brother, Dr. Robert L. Gray, Sr. (Charlotte), of Batesville; five grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

 

Dorothy M. Jaudon

Dorothy M. Jaudon, 69, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019 at her

home in Sardis.

Funeral services were Thursday, Dec.  26,   at 2 p.m. in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville.

 

Corinne Campbell Johnson

Corinne Campbell Johnson, 100, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019, at her home in Batesville.  Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at Calvary Baptist Church in Batesville with interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville.

She was a homemaker and member of Calvary Baptist Church. Corinne leaves behind a long legacy that will be cherished by her three daughters, Yvonne Anthony (Jimmy), of Batesville, the late Patsy Morrow (D.L.), of Batesville, Connie Haley (Steve), of Courtland; sister, Hazel Hudson (Tommy), of Batesville; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

 

 

Patsy Morrow

Patsy Morrow, age 78, passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2019 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced once finalized by her family.

 

Matthew E. Nardozzi,

Matthew E. Nardozzi,  39, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North MS in Oxford.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Dec. 21,  at St. Mary Catholic Church in Batesville with interment at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. The family will receive friends one hour to the service at the church on Saturday.

Matthew was born January 25, 1980, to Donald Joseph and Angela Ford Nardozzi.

He was a resident of North MS Regional Center in Oxford. Matthew loved and had a special bond with his teacher, Beth Bunch.

Matthew’s sweet spirit will be cherished by his mother, Angela Ford Nardozzi of Batesville; brother, Jason Weed (Macy) of Pope; niece, Brianna Weed of Pope; nephew, Chance Weed of Pope; grandparents, Sonny and Myrna Ford of Henderson, KY, Ruby Downs Nardozzi of Batesville; three aunts, Dorothy Nardozzi Burns of Batesville, Danielle Nardozzi Van Dyke of Batesville, Merre Kay Scott (Dennis) of Henderson, KY; two uncles, Joe Nardozzi (Vickie) of Oxford, Andy Ford of Henderson, KY; and cousin, Bant Ford of Henderson, KY.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Donald Joseph Nardozzi.

 

Harriett O’Quinn

Harriett O’Quinn, age 74, passed away Wednesday, December 25, at Providence Assisted Living, in Batesville. Harriett is the widow of the late Rev. Donald O’Quinn.

Funeral services are incomplete at this time and will be announced once they have been finalized by her family.

 

James Arthur Perry

Funeral services for James Arthur Perry, 79, will be held Saturday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Sardis with burial at Harmonia Cemetery. Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at Felix Cauthen Funeral Home.

He died Dec. 18, 2019, at his home in Crenshaw.
