Howdy, Friends!

Christmas time is coming right around the corner. 2019 will be over before we know it if we blink twice.

Our downtown looks pretty with all the lights and the Christmas Train running. I like driving down there and looking at all the folks who come to visit our Square.

There’s several homes around that are decorated and lit up in holiday fashion. Church Street is always pretty the way the neighbors join together to illuminate and in the words of Fred Sanford “coordinate” their street.

Our window at the shop has been adorned with the theme of the movie “A Christmas Story,” leg lamp included. My daughter Jennifer is the guru behind all that spectacle.

I took Leigh last Friday to Sledge, of all places. Out in the middle of nowhere are thousands and thousands of Christmas lights.

I’ve heard about this elaborate scene, but I’ve never been there until last week. I will assure you it is well worth the drive and just slightly out of Panola County right over in our neighboring Quitman County.

Go to Sardis and turn west on Hwy 315. Drive all the way to the stop sign at Hwy 3. Stay on Hwy 315 crossing over Hwy 3. You will see a railroad track, cross the track and make an immediate right turn. Drive two miles and you will see it on the right. Can’t miss it. You’ll be glad you did.

When you leave you can go to Crenshaw and take Hwy 310 to Como. Go see my friends Gary May at Como Steakhouse, Ann May at Windy City Grille, or my buddy Larry Cullinane at the Thai Hut. They’ll feed you good in Como.

I remember as a kid Daddy and Momma used to take us riding around looking at Christmas lights. Seems like there were more back then than there are these days. Maybe I was just young and my eyes saw more at the time.

I think its OK for kids to believe in Santa as long as the real reason for the season is taught to them as well.

Christmas time is for kids. Make sure you always keep that in mind. They are only little once and they grow up quick these days. You do not get a do-over when it comes to raising kids.

Mark “MuleMan” Massey is coming to The Local Yokels Show Saturday to tell us about his big New Year’s Eve party he’s hosting at the Shrine Club in Coldwater.

He also has more to tell us about the concerts he’s doing for prisoners. Tune in to www.undefinedradio.com Saturday morning 9 – 11 am. Mark always delivers an action-packed fun interview. It will be good, I guarantee.
