Margaret Elizabeth Latham Long, 81, passed away Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, at her home in Sardis.
She was born in Teasdale, on Oct. 3, 1938, to Harvey Latham and Annie Kiihnl Latham.
Funeral services weree held Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Sardis Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral
Home. Visitation was held Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the funeral home.  Interment was at Wesley
Chapel Cemetery near Sardis. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s
choice.  Ray-Nowell Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements
She was formerly employed by Sardis Luggage Company and later owned Long’s Store for 40
years.  She loved cooking and baking and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Vicki Long and Charlotte Long; one
son, Gaal Long, Jr., and a special daughter, Sissy Smith, all of Sardis; one granddaughter,
Cheryl; and one great-grandson, Zayne.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Edgar Gaal Long, her parents, and two brothers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dorothy Hubbard Watson, age 89, passed away Monday afternoon,
Dec. 9, 2019 at her home in Courtland.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 12, at Batesville Church of
Christ with interment at Eureka Private Cemetery. The family rreceived
friends Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home.
Mr. Robert Rawson and Mr. Michael Bates officiated. Those honored to
serve as pallbearers included Shannon Massey, Greg Massey, Glenn
Coleman, Lane Massey, Nathan Massey, Carter Massey, Will Massey, Gage
Perkins, and Ray Hoy. Buddy Watson, Jr. served as an honorary pallbearer.
Dot was born on Dec. 5, 1930, to the late Earl G. Hubbard and Sarah Ossie
Fowler Hubbard in Panola County. She was a cosmetologist during her
lifetime and owned Dot’s Beauty Shop for over 30 years.
Dot was also head of the Women’s Auxiliary at the hospital for many years.
She was a member of the Batesville Church of Christ and loved her church
dearly. Dot was an avid business woman, but when she was not working she
enjoyed square dancing. Dot enjoyed a long and fruitful life and will be
dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Dot’s loving and precious memory will be cherished by her two children,
Linda Hardy Massey (Perry) of Courtland, and Jan Kathy Hoy of Memphis;
one brother, J.C. Hubbard of Courtland; seven grandchildren and nine great-
grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Robert
F.  Watson, IV; two children, Buddy Watson and Robin Taylor, and
one sister, Earline Henson.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Eureka Private Family Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Lillie May  Ellis, 78, of Sardis, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, at
Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.
Lil was born on Feb. 12, 1941, in Barr, to the late Jessie Taylor May and Robert Lee
May. She was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church in Sardis and a
loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 55 years, T. Ray Ellis, of Sardis;
her daughter, Deronda Ellis Brooks (Jack), of Olive Branch; her sister, Betty Sue
Harrison (Eddie), of Savannah, Tenn.; her brother, Bob May (Laura), of Independence;
and her grandchildren, Ashton Brooks Winstead (Tyler), of Brandon, and Erin Brooks,
of Starkville.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Williams; her brother, Truman May; and
her parents.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 11, in the First Baptist Church in Sardis
with Rev. Bob Moore, Rev. Mike Jernigan, Rev. Ray Hawk, and Bro. Hal Johnson
officiating.
Visitation was held at the church on Tuesday, Dec. 10. Interment followed in Rose Hill
Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Ellis' memory to First
Baptist Church, 108 W. Lee St., Sardis, MS 38666. Arrangements were entrusted to
Ray-Nowell Funeral Home.

 

Princess Latrell (Pride) Ingram, 49, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at Baptist Memorial
Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.
Viewing will be today, Dec.13, at L. Hodges Funeral Services in Oxford from 11 a.m. to 2:30
p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Peter M.B. Church in Sardis.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter M B Church in Sardis. Burial
will be in the church cemetery. L. Hodges Funeral Services has charge of arrangements.
