Joseph M. Anthony

Joseph M. Anthony, age 48, passed away at his home near Batesville Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2019.

 

Master Bean, Jr.

Master “Bob” Bean, Jr., 94, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, at his residence in Batesville.

Funeral services will be Sunday, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. at Shiloh M. B. Church in Courtland. Pastor Carl Brown will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

He was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Quitman County to the late Rev. Mister and Rosie Elizabeth Bean.

He was a retired forklift driver and part-time farmer. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Shiloh M. B. Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and former chairman of the deacon board.

He attended the Macedonia School and received his diploma from South Panola High School. He was a former member of Macedonia M.B. Church where he was a former deacon and Sunday School teacher.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Dirus Aurelia Street of Courtland, and two children, Trevor and Nicole.

Those left to cherish his memories include four daughters, Linda Bean and Myra Bean of Batesville; Flora Anderson of Sledge; and Sandra Bean of Clarksdale; a son, Master Bean of Fort Worth, Tex.; eight grandchildren; a grandchild he raised, Danielle (Carlos) Maury of Oxford; numerous great-grandchildren, including Alexis Wilks, Brooke Maury and Evan Maury; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Young of Batesville and Valerie Street of St. Louis, and a brother-in-law, Bolton Street of St. Louis.

The family will receive friends at Cooley’s Mortuary Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with family visitation beginning at 3 p.m.

 

Leedora Madkins Davis

Funeral services for Leedora Madkins Davis, 72, will be Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Charleston with Minister Rosie Gunn officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Cooley’s Mortuary.

She died Nov. 15, 2019, at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis. She was born Jan. 6, 1947, in Charleston to Paul Madkins and Irene Laws. Visitation is today (Nov. 22) from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary.

 

Sara Ann Hibbler Eppenger

Sara Ann Hibbler Eppenger, 70, died Nov. 14, 2019, at her residence in Sarah.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov., 27, at Askew Grove M.B. Church at noon with burial in the church cemetery under the direction of Felix Cauthen Funeral Home.

Visitation is today (Nov. 22) from 1 to 6 p.m. at Felix Cauthen Funeral Home.

 

Jannie Exson

Jannie Exson, 75, died Nov. 16, 2019, at Panola Medical Center. She was born Feb. 21, 1944, in Oakland to Hubert House and Gracie Pearl Woodall House.

Funeral services are today (Nov. 22) at 11 a.m. at Philadelphia M.B. Church in Oakland with Pastor Columbus Bell officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Cooley’s Mortuary.

 

Shedrich Frazier

Shedrich Frazier, 100, died Nov. 14, 2019, at the Sardis Nursing Home. He was born June 4, 1919, in Batesville to Perlandas Frazier and Parthenia Edmond. He was retired from the Poloron Company.

He was veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Shiloh CME Church in Sardis.

Funeral services are Saturday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel with Elder Lafayette Morris officiating.

 

Betty Ann Lee

Betty Ann Lee, 84, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019 in Pope.

 

Vickie Camp Littleton

Vickie Camp Littleton,  58, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, Nov. 24, from 3 p.m. until the Memorial

Service time beginning at 5  p.m. at Abundant Light Church in Pope, MS.

Vickie loved her dogs, family time and going to church.

Roger Self

Roger Self, 63, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019, in Marks. Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the Kimbro Funeral Home Chapel.

James Milton Stilwell

James Milton Stilwell, 78, of Water Valley,  died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley. He was born on Aug. 3, 1941, in Pleasant Grove to the late Clara May Moore Stilwell and Elisha Stilwell. He was a member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov.r 23,  at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Dickins Funeral Home with Bro. Shane Crawford officiating. Burial will be at Forrest Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held in the funeral home Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. Contributions may be made to Sylva Rena Baptist Church, 17640 Hwy. 32, Water Valley, MS 38965 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are entrusted to Dickins Funeral Home.

 

Burel Toliver

Burel Toliver, 84, of Sardis died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019, at Baptist Hospital North MS in Oxford.

Funeral services are today (Nov. 22) at St. Peter M.B. Church at noon. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Felix Cauthen Funeral Home of Senatobia.

 

Rozella Herrick Van Winkle

Rozella Herrick Van Winkle,  96, of Southaven,  died Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, at her home. She was born Dec.  9, 1922, in Nekoosa, Wis., to the late Perry and Julia (Horton) Herrick.

She began her working career at the old Rice-Stix factory, later becoming Big Yank, and  finished by retiring from Holley Carburetor. She had a variety of talents, including making clothes for her family, making her renowned jellies, biscuits, and pot-roast for her grandchildren.

She was very fond of reading, poetry, and music.

Visitation was held Thursday in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. today (Nov. 22)in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Larry Kilgore officiating. Interment will be in Long Branch Cemetery with Valley Van Winkle, Brody Van Winkle, Sam Van Winkle, George Sheldon, Curt Franklin, and Brandon Raines serving as pallbearers.

“Rose” is survived by a son, Brad Van Winkle (Karen) of Water Valley; two daughters, Jackie Myrick (Andy) of Southaven, and Betty Kilgore (Larry) of Crowder; two brothers, Dean Herrick of Winslow, Ark., and Varion Herrick of Grimes, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, “Rip” Van Winkle; two brothers, Milo and Walter Herrick; and one sister, Cora Herrick.
