Staff Report
McDonald’s at the Loves Travel Station, located at 725 Hwy. 35 N., received a C grade during a routine inspection by the Mississippi State Department of Health on Sept. 25.
All C grade inspections are highlighted by the Dept. of Health on its website, which also archives food facility reports for all of Mississippi’s restaurants, school cafeterias, day care centers, cafes and bars where food is sold.
According to the online report, McDonald’s received a C grade because the inspector observed that sewage waste water was not properly disposed. Also, food was found not separated and protected, and food contact surfaces were not sanitized, but those violations were not major, and were corrected on site.
State food facility inspectors make random visits and assign the letter grades which must be posted for customers to easily see at each restaurant or food facility.
Statewide, several restaurants a month get C grades, and most improve to B or A on follow-ups.
The state says the A, B or C rating reflects whether critical violations were found and corrected.
C grades are given when critical violations are found and not corrected during the inspection. The facility will be re-inspected, and all violations must be corrected in a time period not to exceed 10 days.
