With two weeks remaining before the start of district play, North Panola High School looks to remain unbeaten as they celebrate Homecoming tomorrow in what surely be a packed Cougar Field.

The game will be the school’s first ever meeting with Ruleville Central High School with a 5 p.m kickoff.

North Panola (4-0) is coming off a 26-8 win over Calhoun City last week and is ranked No. 4 in the ‘Little 10’ prep poll and No. 2 behind Columbia in the 3A rankings according to mississippigridiron.com

Ruleville Central of Region 3-3A sports a 2-2 record after easing past O’Bannon High School (Greenville) 48-7 last week.

The Tigers’ other win came against Indianola Gentry 36-14 in week two of the season while their losses have came at the hands of Rosa Fort (20-8) and Greenville High School (49-8).

The Tigers are averaging 368 yards per game with 204 yards coming through the air and 164 via the ground game.

Senior quarterback Joesph Perez (6’4”,190) has thrown for 817 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 206 yards and three touchdowns.

His main receiving threats are seniors Phabian Carter (15-295 3TD’s) and Ja’Marcus Glenn (9-134) and sophomore Ja’Kell Allen (11-179).

Sophomore Shemar Nevells (6’1” 165) rushed for 104 yards in the win over O’Bannon. Junior DeAndre Smith (5’8”,175) also registered a 100-yard rushing game last week.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Tigers look to leading tackler Jeremiah Surney (5’10”, 190) and defensive end Lorenzo Cotton, Jr. who leads the team with five quarterback sacks.

The secondary is led by Omarian De’Jesus (6’3”,190) and Charles Cox (5’9”, 160).

Ruleville Central will have their hands full going against a North Panola offense that is averaging 306 yards rushing behind a veteran offensive line of Undreious Wooten, Kennedy Lyons, Jaylashun Gardner, Cameron Ferrell and Ronderrious Lamar.

The Cougar offensive line coaches are Tyler Johnson and Demarcus Helm.

Davonta Pratcher is the Cougar leading rusher with 462 yards on 65 carries while Cadarrius Pride is a close second with 46 carries for 445 yards and three touchdowns to go along with 573 yards passing and eight touchdowns.

Eric Williams and Xavier Glover have combined for seven quarterback sacks for the North Panola defense.
