No. 1 Green Wave taking on St. Joe

In one of the biggest North Delta School football game in recent memory, the No.1 ranked 4A Green Wave will put its unbeaten season on the line against the two-time Class AA and also undefeated St. Joseph Fighting Irish of Greenville tonight at Cpl. Brandon Presley Field in a 7 p.m kickoff.

The game will be broadcast on WHKL Kool 107 FM.

Both squads are coming off big victories last Friday as North Delta (4-0) blanked Strayhorn 32-0  with. quarterback Ryan Gibson accounting for three touchdowns, two on the ground and one passing.

St. Joe rolls into Batesville also sporting a 4-0 record after easing past Greenville Christian 44-12 last week.

The Irish are ranked No.1 in the latest MAIS Class 3A poll and are currently riding a 15-game winning streak.

The Irish are led by Oregon commitment Trey Benson (6’1”, 206) and Mississippi State commitment Dillon Johnson (6’,196).

Benson has rushed for 534 yards and nine touchdowns while Johnson has 488 yards and eight touchdowns.

Johnson’s older brother Bryce originally signed with Navy, but has since transferred to Ole Miss where he is redshirting this season.

Mekhi Norris (6’,185) calls the signals for St. Joseph with his main targets being Kaleb Lockett (5’8”, 149) and Rhodrick Gentry, Jr. (5’7”,165).

Junior linebacker Elvis Scott (5’11”,180) leads the Irish with 26 tackles.

North Delta is led on defense by Hawk Aldison, Jordan Cox, Taylor Rowland, Ian Cole and Forrest Pierce.
