South Panola High School Air Force Junior ROTC will have a community car wash from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the high school on Tiger Drive. Donations will be accepted to help fund the activities of the Junior ROTC.

The 11th annual Sardis Classic Open Car Show sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and Mississippi Delta Street Rods will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is a $20 entry and awards will be given at 3 p.m. Open to all makes of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more. Sister Mattie Richardson Fox and the Martin Luther King Crusaders are seeking applications for the 2019 Sadie L. Harrison Music Scholarship. Applications are due Sept. 30. The scholarship will be awarded at a banquet Saturday,  Oct. 12 at the Lester Hill Life Center.  Students with a major or minor in music who are currently enrolled in an institution of higher learning are urged to apply. The Northwest Mississippi Community College Fine Arts Department is hosting an exquisite exhibition of contemporary art, entitled “Rhythym and Flow,” that examines the beauty and diversity of our great state’s wetlands and rivers. The art exhibit is available for viewing until Sept. 30 at the Fine Arts Gallery, NWCC Senatobia campus. Don’t miss this wonderful cultural opportunity! Merea Ministry will have their annual Fall Festival fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church (Batesville) Family Life Center.  There will be food, crafts, art, music, silent auction, cake sale, and fun for kids.  Come join your friends and support Merea Ministry.

Plans are underway for the 9^th annual Gateway to the Delta Festival on the Charleston Court Square. Entertainment will kick off at 11 a.m. with The Ellis Family, followed by The Bonfire Orchestra, The Shakerz, the David Dunavent Band, the Beale St. All-Star Band, Southern Halo, and Meet the Press.  Other event highlights are the always-popular Kidzone will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; the Mayor’s Fun Run; and the ever-popular car show. The third South Panola High School Decade of the 80s Reunion returns Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Batesville Lions Club. Fee is $35 per person. T-shirts and food will be extra. It is also bring your own beverage. The reunion will run from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. with special guest band Spunk Monkees, along with DJ Marky Mark (Mark Best). The South Panola Class of 1979 is planning its 40th year reunion

Deadline to register for the Junior Auxiliary of Batesville  2019 Turkey Trot 5k is Oct. 19. The race will be held at 8 a.m. in lovely downtown Batesville on Nov. 23. All proceeds go to support the wonderful projects of the Batesville Junior Auxiliary.
