The Mobile Food Pantry distribution will be from noon to 2 p.m. at Cistern Hill Missionary Baptist in Como. Vouchers to pick up the free food must be presented. Vouchers are available today (Sept. 6) from noon to 4 p.m. at Sardis Library, tomorrow (Sept. 7) from 8 a.m. to noon at Cistern Hill Church, Monday (Sept. 9) from noon to 4 p.m. at Crenshaw Library, and Tuesday (Sept. 10) from 2 to 6 p.m. at Cistern Hill Church.

Sept. 18

Anyone interested in working to help gather data for the 2020 Census can learn more at the Batesville Public Library on Wednesday, Sept. 18. A census taker job offers good pay, flexible hours, and paid training. All age groups are encouraged to apply.

Sept. 28

The 11th annual Sardis Classic Open Car Show sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and Mississippi Delta Street Rods will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is a $20 entry and awards will be given at 3 p.m. Open to all makes of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more. Sept. 30

Sister Mattie Richardson Fox and the Martin Luther King Crusaders are seeking applications for the 2019 Sadie L. Harrison Music Scholarship. Applications are due Sept. 30. The scholarship will be awarded at a banquet Saturday,  Oct. 12 at the Lester Hill Life Center.  Students with a major or minor in music who are currently enrolled in an institution of higher learning are urged to apply. Merea Ministry will have their annual Fall Festival fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church (Batesville) Family Life Center.  There will be food, crafts, art, music, silent auction, cake sale, and fun for kids.  Come join your friends and support Merea Ministry.

Oct. 12

The third South Panola High School Decade of the 80s Reunion returns Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Batesville Lions Club. Fee is $35 per person. T-shirts and food will be extra. It is also bring your own beverage. The reunion will run from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. with special guest band Spunk Monkees, along with DJ Marky Mark (Mark Best). Oct. 19

The South Panola Class of 1979 is planning its 40th year reunion

for Oct. 19. Contact 934-7281, 934-1272, or 703-0171 for more information or to help in the planning. All persons with connections to this class are urged to call. The reunion date is the day after the South Panola High School homecoming game in the fall.

Panola County Cancer Relief Organization meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Public Library at 6 p.m.

Wednesdays

Square Market in downtown Batesville from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pick up fried pork skins, fried pies, fresh eggs, picked okra, honey, chow chow, pepper sauce, jellies, BBQ sauces, breads, and rolls.  Crafts and other booths always open also. It won’t be long until Christmas! Shop the crafts for early gifts! Don’t forget the homemade nap pads for the young ones. Batesville VFW Post 4968 and Auxiliary meets the first Thursday of every month at the VFW building at 6 p.m.

The Como Farmers Market will be held each Thursday at the end of Main St. in Como from 3 to 7 p.m. More vendors are needed. Contact the Como Town Hall at 526-5106 for more information.

Saturdays

Every third Saturday of the month, the Batesville Lions Club will have Karaoke Night starting at 6 p.m. Music starts at 7 p.m. at the Lions Club building off Tiger Drive.
