The North Delta softball team ended a four-game losing skid in a big way by disposing of West Memphis Christian 13-1 in four innings Thursday.

The Lady Wave Junior Varsity squad remained undefeated  at 4-0 with a 10-0 win over the the Knights.

North Delta (3-4) returns to the diamond today (Aug. 13)  with a district tilt at Lee Academy.

Paizlee Woods went the distance in the circle to pick up the pitching victory. The eighth grader scattered five hits while striking out three and did not walk a batter.

Woods got plenty of support offensively as the Lady Wave pounded out 13 hits including seven in a seven-run second inning.

North Delta led 9-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning where they plated four runs to end the game via the 12-run rule.

Isabella Morrow paced North Delta with a double and triple and three runs driven in. Ally Alford collected a pair of singles and a triple.

North Delta got its district slate off to an less than ideal start with a 19-5 loss to Kirk Academy at home Monday followed by a 15-0 defeat in three innings at Marshall Tuesday.

Kirk took a 4-0 lead in the top of the first and never looked back before coasting to the victory. The Raiders plated runs in every inning while pounding out 20 hits.

North Delta (2-4, 0-2) scratched across on run in the bottom half of the first as leadoff batter Mckenna Smith reached third on an error and scored on Isabella Morrow’s groundout.

The Lady Raiders extended their lead to 10-1 in the fifth before the Lady Green Wave bats showed some form of life with four runs to cut Kirk’s lead to 10-5.

After Smith flied out to begin the inning, Morrow and Ally Alford singled followed by a two-run double from Paizlee Woods. Griffin Rico and Breck Brewer kept the inning going with a single and double that produced runs.

Whatever momentum the Lady Wave had quickly evaporated as Kirk scored nine runs over the next two innings to put the game away.

North Delta collected 11 hits in the game as Brewer led the way offensively with a double and two singles.

Alford and Morrow followed with two singles each. Millie Clark and Gracie Tutor also provided singles.

Woods, Alford and Lindy Ward all saw time in the pitchers’ circle for North Delta.
