Staff Report
Directors of the Panola County Cancer Relief Organization are seeking participation from local cancer survivors and volunteers willing to help strengthen the non-profit group and increase the group’s outreach.
The Cancer Relief Org. is comprised of cancer survivors, patient caretakers, and members of the community. Anyone recently diagnosed with cancer is also urged to become involved with the group and take advantage of opportunities available.
The members meet at the Batesville Public Library each second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. The group identifies people and families in Panola County who are undergoing cancer treatments and those recovering from surgeries.
Cancer Relief Org. can provide emotional support from survivors and donations to help offset the costs associated with cancer and treatments. The group has helped many cancer patients with medication expenses, travel costs, and other necessities during their individual fights with cancer.
The organization also needs more donations from the public. Volunteers can give of their time by meeting with and encouraging cancer patients, and with monetary donations that help fund the expenses of needs met by the group.
The meetings are open to the public and anyone interested in learning morning is invited to attend for more details. Those wishing to make a donation may send checks to: Panola County Cancer Relief Org., P.O. Box 1718, Batesville, MS 38606.
