On June 3 the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) presented a surplus vehicle to Batesville for use in the inmate litter program. The program has removed 2,203 bags of litter from state highways within the city limits through May of the current fiscal year. The state program provides a truck and funds for the salary of one full-time litter patrol employee.
