Batesville’s Square Market and Como’s Farmers Market were opened this week and county residents can soon expect to see tables and booths filled with fresh vegetables and fruits, along with locally produced jams, jellies, pickles, preserves, and a host of breads, cookies, and pies. Arts and crafts vendors also have their wares at the markets. Sardis also hosted a Pop Up Market on Wednesday and will again have a robust Farmers Market this summer and fall.
Market 1: The inside portion of the Downtown Square was blocked off Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Square Market and business was brisk from the beginning.
Market 2:
Market 3: Teresa Wallace and her twin 9-year-old granddaughters, Abbay (left) and Phoebe Wallace, were at the Como Farmers Market. The grandchildren helped Wallace pick plants that were more colorful than the white ones their grandmother preferred.
Market 4: Nick’s Fried Pies was a popular stop for shoppers at Batesville’s market where they found tasty pies and a variety of flavored fresh-pressed lemonades.
Market 5: Tasty treats and fresh vegetables aren’t the only items available at the markets. A variety of crafts vendors round out the lineup of sellers each week.
Market 6:
Market 7: Fresh baked breads, sweet rolls, and fried pies can be found at each of the Batesville, Sardis, and Como markets throughout the growing and harvest seasons.
