Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Upsilon Iota Omega Chapter presents an Asset and Wealth Accumulation Financial Literacy Workshop from 6 to 7 p.m. at First Security Bank Trust Building, 275 Hwy. 6 West, Batesville. Sardis will have a Pop-up Farmers Market at the Pavilion downtown from 3 to 7 p.m. Call City Hall to be a vender, 487-2371.

Batesville’s Square Market will start June 5 this year. Come enjoy fresh produce, fried pies, homemade breads, fresh eggs, and many other booths, including arts and crafts. The Square Market grows each year and more vendors are expected this year as the fresh fruits and vegetables seasons progress. Market is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Wednesday. To secure a vendor’s place, pick up an application at the offices of Panola Partnership on the Square or call 56 3-3126. Space is limited, call early.

First Security Bank’s Community Development Program will present a Homebuyer Education Class at 5:30 p.m. It will be held at the Senatobia Public Library, 222 South Ward Street, Senatobia. Presenters are Blane Breland, USDA-RD; JB Lowrie – FSB; Barbara Bonnell – Mortgage Loan Officer. Program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments a provided. The second Panola County Juneteenth will be held Saturday, June 8, at noon on Main Street in Sardis. If you would like to be a vendor, email panolacountyjuneteeth@gmail.com.

The Batesville Safe Shelter will have a fundraising Bake Sale at Tractor Supply Co. on Hwy. 6 East beginning at 8 a.m. Plenty or goodies to choose from and donations also accepted. The shelter provides temporary housing for women and children in danger of domestic abuse.

The 10th Annual Showoff on the Square – open car show – will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. All makes and models of cars, trucks, race cars, motorcycles and other vehicles will be on the Square for public viewing. There is no admission charge. All proceeds from sponsors and entries benefit the Baptist Children’s Village and local needy families. Concessions will be available from Merea Ministries. Batesville Dental Clinic, 113 Eureka St., will offer a Free Service Day for teachers and uninsured children. Basic and preventative dental care appointments are limited and a spot must be scheduled to take advantage of the offer. Call 563-7644 for an appointment.

The Dreamriders will sponsor its annual Kids Day at the Lake, Saturday, July 13, beginning at 11 a.m. All children are 18 are welcome to enjoy refreshments, games, bouncy houses and see sights like the Lifeflight helicopter if it is available..

Celebrate Recovery With Jesus will meet each Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at Victory Independent Baptist Church on Hwy. 51S, two-and-a-half miles south of Batesville on the right. Bring all your hurts, habits, and hang-ups. Call 209-7773 for more information.

The South Panola Class of 1979 is planning its 40th year reunion

for Oct. 19. Contact 934-7281, 934-1272, or 703-0171 for more information or to help in the planning. All persons with connections to this class are urged to call. The reunion date is the day after the South Panola High School homecoming game in the fall.

The Panola County Election Commissioners meet the first Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Courthouse at 2 p.m.

The American Legion meets the third Tuesday of every month at the VFW at 5:30 p.m.

The Panola County Humane Society meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Batesville Public Library at 5:30 p.m.

Panola County Cancer Relief Organization meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Public Library at 6 p.m.

Al-Anon Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at Oxford University United Methodist Church, 424 S. Tenth St., Oxford. Take the Tyler St. entrance.

Thursdays

Batesville VFW Post 4968 and Auxiliary meets the first Thursday of every month at the VFW building at 6 p.m

Saturdays

Every third Saturday of the month, the Batesville Lions Club will have Karaoke Night starting at 6 p.m. Music starts at 7 p.m. at the Lions Club building off Tiger Drive.
