Cunningham earns UM’s Highest academic award

University of Mississippi graduate Dameon Lamont Cunningham of Batesville was among more than 70 University of Mississippi students to receive a 2019 Marcus Elvis Taylor Memorial Medal, the university’s highest academic award.

The students were recognized April 4 during UM’s Honors Day Convocation.

Cunningham is a Social Work major in the School of Applied Sciences who graduated in fall 2018. After graduation, Cunningham plans to become a licensed social worker while continuing to make a positive difference in his community. Cunningham is the son of the late Donald and Angie Cunningham

   

The Taylor Medals were established at UM in 1904 by Dr. William A. Taylor of Booneville in memory of his son, an honored 1871 alumnus of the university. The award recognizes no more than 1 percent of the student body each year.
