Green Wave upset by Lee Academy

North Delta received 11 points each from Colin Hartman and Layton Wells, but it was to no avail as the Green Wave boys fell 66-44 at Lee Academy Thursday in Clarksdale.

Ryan Gibson and Walt Miller each provided eight points for North Delta (3-18, 1-6) while Carter Gee added four. Drake Barton finished with two points.

The Colts  also came away with a 48-29 win in the junior high boys contest.

Varsity Girls

Lee 56, ND 45

In varsity girls action, North Delta’s hopes of a regular season championship took a big hit after falling 56-45 to Lee.

The loss was especially stinging considering the Lady Waves beat the Fillies by 29 points here on Jan. 8.

Ally Alford paced the Lady Green Wave with 20 points followed by Shelby Grace Boone with nine.

Isabella Morrow added six followed by Sydney Talley  with four. Sayle Stennett and Breck Brewer contributed with three points each.

North Delta (15-9, 5-2) hosted division leading Bayou last night to conclude district play before hosting Lee, Ark., Friday at 6 p.m.

Junior High

The Green Wave avoided the four-game sweep as the junior high girls team came away with a 33-16 win.

Breck Brewer led the way with eight points while Paizlee Woods and Shelby Grace Boone garnered six each with six.

Libby Miller added five with Ellie Gray provided four. Sophie Williams and Sadie Gray chipped in with two points.

The boys lost 48-29, but no individual stats were available.

North Delta will host a junior high tournament starting tomorrow and ending with the championship games Saturday. Seeding and times have yet to be determined.
