We came together this week, not as a community, but a race of our people. Martin Luther King did not see race, but what he saw was a rainbow of colors that he fought so hard to change.

I did not see that beautiful rainbow at this service that was open to the public. This celebration was about a man who was a servant to all, not just a mighty few.

When the man began his fight for justice he did not see color, but people who were in need of being released from the evil working of man. As the children sang Walking in the Light, I hope they knew what it really means to walk that path.

He shines around us daily.

Remember Pass Me Not, Oh gentle Savior, do not pass me by? The fight and struggle still continue around the kitchen and dining room table. We know He can work it out, if we stay on the Lord’s side.

The speaker, Pastor Batholomew Orr of Southaven, spoke on what the “S” stands for (Superman). But reality and scripturally in Joshua 14:6-14 he is speaking of a man, an ordinary man, used by God. His trust was in God Almighty. Numbers 14:24, my servant has a different attitude.

What God needs from us are more servants, faithful to the task and to your assignment. Be a faithful servant. Be strong and keep His word. Do not start and stop. Be a servant on fire for the Lord. Work in your community (never be lazy). You have a charge to keep. Be fervent over time.

We must keep on keeping on. There is a war going on. Greater is He that is in the world. Be a fearless servant. Take back what the devil stole. Be a student of the word. Be not conformed to the world.

If we do our part, we will have a community to be proud of.
