Virginia Louise Ridgeway, 77, died Monday, Dec.10, 2018, at her son’s home in Batesville.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 13)  in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with interment to follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Rev Kolby Ganaway officiated.

She was born May 14, 1941, to the late Ollie Cox and William John Ard in Marks. She was a homemaker.

Trussie Ann Bryant Thompson, 70, of Shaw, died Dec. 10, 2018.

Trussie, also known as Betty, was born April 28, 1948,to William and Odie Bryant. She was a licensed agent for Primerica for many years.

Betty is survived by three children and four grandchildren.

Visitation Services will be held for the public Saturday, Dec. 15, 1-5 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church of God In Christ, 303 Cleveland St., Shaw.  Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the New Life Church 3817 Hwy 61N., Cleveland.

Burial will be at Northwest Shaw Memorial Garden at Shaw with Townes Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

 

Velma Ann Boyd-Turner

Velma Ann Boyd-Turner, daughter of the late Minnie Bell and W.B. Boyd was born on Sept. 9, 1951, in Sardis, Miss. She departed this life on Dec. 5, 2018, at Brentwood of Hobart in Hobart, Ind.

She received her education at Shiloh School and graduated from North Panola Vocational High School. She professed a Hope in Christ at an early age and was a member of Shiloh C.M.E. Church.

After moving to Gary, Ind., in 1976 she joined Pilgrim Baptist Church. Velma Ann was employed by Inland Steel for 17 years and retired her career as a lab technician at U.S. Steel in 2004.

Velma Ann was joined in holy matrimony to Leon Turner in Las Vegas, N.V., in January 2004. She is preceded in death by her husband Leon Turner, mother Minnie Bell Boyd, father W.B. Boyd, and her son Mangual Boyd.

Velma Ann is survived by sisters Josephine Sanders, Betty Walker, and Earnestine Carter; and brothers, James Sanders, Dietrich Johnson, and Louis Cole.  She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services is Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Shiloh C.M.E. Ballentine Rd., Batesville. Interment will be at Harmonia Cemetery in Como.

 

Nellie Warren

Funeral services for Nellie Warren, 59, will be Saturday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Louis Cotton officiating. Burial will follow at Belmont Cemetery in Marks.

Visitation will be today (Dec. 14) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary.

Warren died Nov. 30, 2018, in Lebanon, Ohio. She was born Feb. 3, 1959, in Shelby.

 

James Wood, 73, died Thursday, Dec.13, 2018, at his home in Memphis.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Well Funeral Home when finalized.
