The South Panola varsity soccer teams opened district slate Friday hosting Oxford at a cold, rainy Robert H. Dunlap Stadium with the Chargers coming away victorious in both matches.
The Oxford girls showed why they are one of the top teams in the state with a 15-0 romp over the Lady Tigers while the Charger boys also blanked the home team 4-0 in the nightcap. Tiger goalkeeper Gehrig Griffin registered 17 saves on the night.
South Panola’s girls picked up a 4-0 win over visiting Coahoma County at home Thursday to even its record to 3-3 on the season. Vickie Ratfield scored two goals while Sara Cantu and Brandaijha Key registered one goal each.
South Panola returns to the field tonight as they travel to Independence for a pair of varsity games beginning at 5 p.m. The two teams meet again here Thursday for two matches with the same starting times.
