A memorial service for Linda Harden Floyd,  73, was held Saturday, Dec. 8, at the First United Methodist Church in Batesville with Rev. Ed Woodall and Rev. Ed Temple officiating. She died Dec. 5, 2018, at her home in Pope.

Floyd was born Dec. 9, 1944, to the late Mariola Shinn and Grady E. Harden in Oxford. She was a retired office manager for the Batesville Civic Center and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

 

Funeral services for Martha Robinson Holmes, 74, will be Saturday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. in McComb.

She died Dec. 7, 2018, in McComb. She is survived by her husband, Earnest James Holmes, also of McComb; two sons; and five daughters. She was preceded in death by three daughters.

She was born in Batesville Feb. 10, 1944, to Vell Brassell and Riola Mitchell.

 

Ilene Sheegog, 78, transitioned on Dec. 6, 2018, in Batesville, Miss. She was born near Water Valley on Dec., 4, 1940 to L.Z. and Maddie Phillips.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bobby Joe Sheegog Sr., of Enid; her seven children, Steven (Levon) of Memphis, Barbara (Ken) Sheegog of Memphis, Shawn Sheegog of Enid, Andri Sheegog of Memphis, Bobby (Alise) Sheegog of Knoxville, Lisa (Rau) Hurtado of Los Angeles, and Jonathan Sheegog of Memphis. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Carlos Sheegog.

Mrs. Sheegog was also survived by two sisters, Velma (Willie) Martin and Irma (Alton) Cathey of Memphis; and three brothers, Preston Phillips of Chicago, Bobby Phillips of Memphis, and Robbie Phillips of Pope.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Earnestine (Tip) Claxton and a brother, Charles Phillips.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 14, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel in Batesville. Homegoing services will be Saturday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church in Enid with Minister Robbie Phillips officiating.
