Woman held hostage, raped according to report

A Panola County man is being held in jail on charges of rape following an incident on Sanders Rd. in Sardis.
Marcus Oliver, age and address unavailable, was arrested on April 21 after officers found him hiding in a bedroom at the above address.
According to the Sheriff’s Department report, deputies responded to a call at the residence very early in the morning. On arrival, a woman was seen running from the house naked from the waist down and holding two children.
She told the deputies the man, a relative, grabbed her by the neck and demanded sex. When she refused, he alledgedly held a gun to her head, telling her he would kill her and the children. He then proceeded to rape her multiple times over the course of several hours, she said.
The woman was eventually able to use a cell phone to text her mother, asking her to call police.
She was taken to the Oxford hospital and a rape kit was used and kept for evidence.
Oliver was taken to the county jail where he remains in custody. The case will be submitted to the Grand Jury and more charges will be forthcoming.
