His total base compensation for 2018 is $3 million; 2019 $3.1 million; 2020, $3.2 million; and 2021, $3.3 million. He will receive annual incentive awards for various wins and another $1,000,000 for a national championship.

Ole Miss hired a new head coach in Matt Luke yesterday. They removed “interim” from his title and announced him as the head coach.
“We wanted to make the selection process a nationwide process,” said Ross Bjork, Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics, “and that’s what we did.”
Bjork also said that they wanted a coach who had been around a winning program and a coach that knew how to win and someone that could bring in good players to be a part of the program. Luke became the 38th head coach in the program’s history.
The Egg Bowl win was a key component in the hiring process as the biggest win of Luke’s interim position. Bjork said that after the season he had to go fast and since the win at the Egg Bowl, now they have momentum. When Luke was brought out as the head coach he was given a standing ovation by his team.
“Thank you for the trust Ross for giving me the interim and now with the opportunity to own this title,” Luke said. “I said in the beginning that Mississippi was not a stepping stone, this is somewhere I want to be and remain to finishing playing.”
Luke said he cannot wait to get on the recruiting trail and tell the high school prospects about being Mississippi made and how it feels to play in the best conference in football. He also mentioned what kind of impact he made with the team in four short months and how a full offseason would be for the program.
“I want my guys to finish strongly academically because the next season starts today,” Luke said.
