SP rifle to attend Jr. Olympic competition

South Panola High School’s Air Force JROTC rifle team claimed the state Junior Olympic championship in a recent match hosted at SPHS.

The South Panola High School AFJROTC Rifle Team will represent Mississippi in the National Junior Olympic Rifle Championship at Camp Perry, Ohio in June.
The state championship was claimed at the Mississippi Junior Olympic 3 Position Rifle Championship match hosted at SPHS March 4.
The SP cadets claimed the first and second place awards for four-person teams, with the first place team earning an invitation to the National Junior Olympic Rifle Championship.
High schools, club teams and at-large individuals from Mississippi competed in the match. South Panola entered three 4-person teams.
The first place team members included Nikki Still, Nick Rudd, Shauntiya Johnson,and Matt Moore. The second place team included Jason Robertson, Haylen Hall, Raven Hudson,and Thomas Harkins.
In addition, South Panola students excelled in the individual competitions. Overall individual winners were Nikke Still in first place, Matt Moore in second,  Nick Rudd in fourth and Shauntiya Johnson in fifth.
