One dead following shooting

At presstime law enforcement investigators had a suspect in custody following a Thursday afternoon fatal shooting at Panola First Stop on Panola Ave., formerly known as Helmes Grocery, according to BPD Assistant Police Chief Jimmy McCloud.
McCloud said his department received the call early afternoon and found a male subject at the scene. Medical personnel arriving shortly after pronounced the victim  dead at the scene with County Coroner Gracie Grant Gulledge arriving shortly after.
At presstime Thursday McCloud said charges had yet to be filed.
Witnesses said several shots were fired and an area resident on Panola reported multiple city police and county sheriff department vehicles racing toward the scene.
