Pope Peewee struggles against Clarksdale

The Pope Dawg Peewee football team struggled against Clarksdale Saturday morning with the first two teams falling to the Wildcats.
The 11-and-12 year-old team led 20 points against Clarksdale in the first half and the second half was forfeited by Clarksdale.
7&8 Clarksdale 26, Pope 0
Pope 7-and-8-year-olds were unable to hold Clarksdale as Clarksdale scored two touchdowns and both extra points.
The Dawgs finally got the ball back and managed to gain a few yards. They attempt a pass that was intercepted by Clarksdale and ran back for a touchdown, ending the first half with a score of 20-0.
Pope started the second half by gaining no yards, as Clarksdale manages two back-to- back sacks.
Clarksdale took back possession and managed to continuously run for the first down. The Wildcats fumbled the ball but recovered.
Eli Roebuck and Zach King took down the Clarksdale runner just shy of the goal line, bringing up fourth down.
With one more try, Clarksdale squeezed into the end zone for their final touch down to win 26-0.
Pope started its possession by handing the ball off as the runner managed to get back to the line of scrimmage.
On second down Pope fumbled and Clarksdale recovered. Pope did not allow Clarksdale to score again as the Dawgs stopped the wildcats at the 15 yard line. The game ended with Clarksdale shutting out Pope 26-0.
9&10 Clarksdale 12, Pope 8
The 9-and-10-year-old Pope Dawgs played a close game against Clarksdale but were ultimately defeated 12-8.
The Dawgs started out with a tight defensive line as Clarksdale received the ball first.
Pope held Clarksdale during the first three downs but were unable to keep them from the first down. Flags on each team for offsides caused both teams to lose yards.
Clarksdale continued to push to stay ahead of the chains and managed their first touchdown. The Wildcats kicked a field goal for the extra point but missed.
A flag during the return on Clarksdale gave the Dawgs excellent field position, but Clarksdale pushed causing the Dawgs to lose five yards.
On second and 15,  Clarksdale was flagged for personal foul, unnecessary roughness. Jarod Kimmons and Mykal Allen ran the ball and gained positive yards for a first and goal before the clock ran out for half time.
Pope got the ball back first in the second half and fumbled but Allen recovered. The Dawgs continued to fight for the touchdown but fumbled again and Clarksdale to recovered.
Clarksdale scores again but is the extra point fails.
Allen returned the kickoff 55 yards for the first touchdown for the Dawgs.
With the extra point, Pope cuts the lead 12-8 which turns out to be the final score.
11&12 Pope 20, Clarksdale 0
The 11-and 12-year-old Pope Dawgs shutout Clarksdale in the first half. The dawgs ran over Clarksdale 20-0.
Garrick Williams returned the ball to the 25 to start the game.
Brayden Martin scored on a touchdown pass for the first score of the game.
Jabari Brassell completed the pass to Kentavious Mack for the extra point.
Pope continued to produce results as Clarkdale fumbled during its first possession. Brassell recovered. Martin ran for a nine-yard gain.
D’Marian Perteet scores on a touchdown pass for the Dawgs as Kaleb Bland scores the extra point.
Clarksdale got possession back but fumbled again and Bland recovered and returned the ball for the final touchdown of the half and the game as Clarksdale forfeited the second half.
