BJH downs Clarksdale

Ja’Marion Sanford rushed for 100 yards on 10 carries and two touchdowns as the Batesville Junior High seventh-grade defense forced five turnovers in route to a 34-6 win over Clarksdale Tuesday.
The Tiger eighth-grade squad was not as forunate as they dropped a 20-14 verdict after being stopped inside the one-yard line as time expired.
Ta’Javious Cotton recovered a fumble and returned an interception 44 yards for a touchdown. Tra Johnson, Lance Johnson and Jaylin Ausborn also registered fumble recoveries.
Blake Pride followed Sanford in the rushing column with 36 yards on three carries and a touchdown. Johnson had one carry for 19 yards while Taria Booth chipped in with 16 yards on one tote.
D’Rantage Green added one carry for six while Elijah Kitchens had five yards one carry.
Clarksdale ( 8th grade)-

Clarksdale scored the winning touchdown on fourth down with 40 seconds left in the game.
Martez Clark had a 43- yard scoring run for Batesville and quarterback Anterio Draper added a one-yard touchdown run.
Charles Fox followed Clark in rushing with seven carries for 32 yards. Illijah Battle had one carry for five yards.
Draper threw for 72 yards on four-of- nine passing. Zacchaeus Nelson caught two passes for 28 yards while LaDerrick Hill also registered two catches for 54 yards.
Bobby Wilkerson and Hill had interceptions while Zouri Brock chipped in with three tackles for the Tiger defense.
Batesville hosts Oxford Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m.
