Maurice Beatty

HERNANDO––Maurice Bradford Beatty, 97, formerly of Pope and Tupelo, passed away September 7, 2016, at her residence.
 Services will be held today at Wells Funeral Home with visitation from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. and a graveside service immediately following at Lambert Cemetery.
She was the widow of Samuel Hartford Beatty. She was a member of Longview Point Baptist Church in Hernando.
Survivors include two daughters, Pat Keigley of Hernando, MS and Joan Hagood (Richard) of Guntown, and one son Hart Beatty, Jr. (Trish) of Houston; five grandchildren, Michelle Pink (John) of Poughkeepsie, NY, Laura Boren (Ben) of Hernando, Brian Hull (Anne) of Southaven, Stephen Hull (Cathy) of Dallas, Texas and Samuel Hartford Beatty III (Esther) of Houston, MS and two step-granddaughters, Joey Murphy of Haughton, La., and Jordan Morgan (Tyler) of Sturgis and one step- grandson, Josh Ernest (Jana) of Houston and 16 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donation gifts can be made to the Baptist Children’s Village, P.O. Box 27 Clinton, Miss. 39060-0027.

Edward E. Colbert

Edward E. “Eddie” Colbert, age 69, passed away Sunday morning, September 4, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.
Services were held Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home. Interment followed at Forrest Memorial Park. Jay Johnson officiated the service.
Eddie was born January 2, 1947 to the late Edward E. Colbert and Marie Peters Colbert in Memphis. He retired as a manager with Federal Express after 28 years of service.

Quitman Grant

BATESVILLE––Quitman Grant, 83, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016, at his residence.
Services were held Sunday at Wells Funeral Home. Interment followed at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Randy Willis officiated.
Quitman, born November 3, 1932, to the late Andrew Dolphus Grant and Deverlin Irene Miles Grant in Marks, worked as an auto and diesel mechanic and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Enid Lake Baptist Church.

Betty Seale Herron

Betty Seale Herron, 79, passed away peacefully in the arms of her granddaughter. Mrs. Herron is the wife of Jimmy H. Herron.
Graveside services were held Sunday at Antioch Cemetery near Courtland. Dr. Doug Sullivan-Gonzalez officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Betty, born April 20, 1937, in Courtland, to the late Stanford and Elgenia Smith Seale, was a homemaker and member of Independence Presbyterian Church. Betty was a kind and loving lady who loved her family and friends.
Her memory will be cherished most by her husband, Jimmy H. Herron of Courtland, MS; two daughters, Amy Herron McMinn (Stevie) of Courtland, MS, Kim Herron Holt (John) of Courtland, MS; son, Jim W. Herron (Heather) of Courtland, MS; six grandchildren, Meagan McMinn, Jim Tyler Dalrymple (Heather), John Cody Dalrymple, Meri Harbor Herron, Holt Herron, Hayes Herron and one great-grandson, Carder Dalrymple.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Antioch Cemetery or Independence Presbyterian Church.

Alfia Johnson

BATESVILLE––Alfia Johnson, 74, died Friday, September 2, 2016.
Services will be held Saturday at noon at Henderson Funeral Home in Sardis.
Johnson was born June 13, 1942, in Leflore County, to the late Seail Johnson and Susue Mea Hawkins Johnson.

Ben Walton McCullar

MARION, Ark.––Ben Walton McCullar, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the West Memphis First Baptist Church, 200 North Missouri Street, West Memphis, Ark. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. until service time. Roller Citizens Funeral Home has charge.
Mr. McCullar was a faithful member of the senior Adult Joy Seekers, Joy Singers and Adult Choir of First Baptist Church of West Memphis. He retired from LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, and from the Crittenden County Assessor’s Office.
Survivors include: his wife Bonnie Emerson McCullar of Marion; two daughters Dana  McCullar Simpson (Mike) of Earle, AR; Kristin McCullar Elam (Eric) of Marion; son Heath McCullar (Melissa) of Alma, Ark.; sister, Alice Hubbard (Herman) of Batesville;  seven grandchildren, Nicholas P. Ginn, Brooke Lauren Ginn, Victoria Simpson Johnson, John Eric Elam, Jordan Emerson Elam, Claire Elizabeth McCullar, and Seth William McCullar and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105 or charity of choice.

Grace Ann Henry Raley

BANNER––Grace Ann Henry Raley, 62, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at her residence.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 9, at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 10 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks. Burial will be in the Mt. Liberty Cemetery in Calhoun County.
She was born June 27, 1953, in Batesville, to the late Thomas Jefferson and Grace Edith Thompson Henry, and worked for a number of years at Winchester in Oxford.
Survivors include: her daughter, Crystal (Tyrone) Turner of Banner; her son, Jeffrey (Angela) Walters of Grenada; sister, Betty (Tony) Tutor of Courtland; two brothers, Wayne Henry of Hernando, and Larry (Sharon) Henry of Batesville; and six grandchildren, Gabriel, Michael, Jessica, Alexa, Robert and Ryan.

Clarence Lloyd Stonebraker

Clarence Lloyd “Rocky” Stonebraker, 61, passed away, Thursday, September 8, 2016.
Memorial graveside services will be held Sunday, September 11 at 2 p.m. at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Rocky, born Oct. 29, 1954, in Virginia, to the late Clarence Delbert and Shirley Ann West Stewart Stonebraker, was a fueler for Fed Ex in Memphis.
