New Dollar General store plans ‘soft opening’ Sat.

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn.– The new Dollar General store, formerly Walmart, at 420 East Lee Street in Sardis is slated to have its soft opening Saturday, September 10.  In its expanded format, Dollar General will offer area residents a convenient place to shop for essentials including fresh meat, produce and fuel.
Dollar General will celebrate the official grand opening on Saturday, October 1 beginning at 8 a.m. The first 50 adult customers will receive a complimentary three-pound package of ground beef, the first 100 adult customers will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag with assorted samples, among other giveaways.
Donuts and coffee will be served in the morning while hotdogs and drinks will be available beginning at 11 a.m.
“Dollar General is committed to delivering a pleasant shopping experience that includes a convenient location, a wide assortment of merchandise and great prices on quality products,” said Dan Nieser, Dollar General’s senior vice president of real estate and store development.  “We hope our customers will enjoy shopping at Dollar General’s new location.”
The new store is approximately 12,000 square feet, compared to a traditional Dollar General format that is approximately 9,100 square feet.  The additional 3,000 square feet will allow Dollar General to provide fresh meat and produce, in addition its traditional merchandise.
