Yankees silence A’s; Sox downs Royals

The Batesville American Legion 13-15 year-old baseball league wrapped up its regular season Monday night with a pair of games as the Yankees tripped up the A’s 12-4 while the Red Sox slipped past the Royals 7-4 in the second game.
Yankees- 12 A’s-4
Caleb White drove in three runs while Gage Heath added two more as the Yankees jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings.
The Yankees (6-5) plated three runs in the first and four more in the second before the A’s ( 8-3) cut the margin to 7-4 with a four-run third inning. Tanner Jaudon. Gavin Towles and Max Dunlap registered singles in the frame. Dawson Griffin recorded a single in the first to account for the only other A’s hit.
The Yankees extended their margin in the fourth with two runs on Heath’s RBI single and White’s groundout. Ty Hodges two-run single sparked a three-run fifth inning that put the game away. Caleb West chipped in with two singles and scored two runs in the wining effort. Drake Barton, West, White and Hodges all saw time on the mound for the Yankees.
Red Sox- 7 Royals-4
A three-run third inning broke open a tight game as the Red Sox came away with the victory to improve their record to 4-7.
Matt Burchfield and Denver Brown contributed with two singles each with Ian Cole added a double and single. Shawn Payne, Lee Adcock and Hunter Hudson garnered singles. Luke Weldon walked twice and scored two runs as the Sox used five pitchers to preserve the win.
Brett Goss, Keyshun Lantern, Dre’ Moore and Josh Johnson all singled for the Royals.
