Investigators mum in death of local mother

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation at presstime had not released any information from its investigation into the Friday night death of Corvettea Redd Spears on Highway 35 South near its intersection with Tocowa Road.
Panola County Coroner Gracie Gulledge pronounced Spears dead about 9 p.m. She is awaiting determination of the cause of death from an autopsy. Gulledge said that she expects to learn the results of the autopsy late Monday.
Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby said that investigation has been turned over to the MBI since Spears’ father is a county employee. Attempts and repeated efforts by The Panolian to contact the MBI have been unsuccessful.
Services will be Saturday, May 7 at the Batesville Junior High School Auditorium at 2 p.m. with visitation Friday May 6 from 1 to 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary which has charge of arrangments.
