In conjunction with AprilFest activities, Panola Playhouse will open for two performances of the fairy tale-themed production, “Into the Woods,” to be presented by students from Senatobia High School Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and again at 7 p.m.
“Into the Woods” is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales that follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel-all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family, and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.
A red cape, a strand of yellow hair, a golden shoe, and a white cow. It’s these four items that send a childless baker and his wife through the woods on a magical journey to reverse an evil spell.
The show will also be presented tonight at 7 and on Sunday at 2 p.m.
