Billy Eugene Byford
Mr. Billy Eugene Byford, 68, of Coffeeville, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 at his residence. He was born March 27, 1947 in Coffeeville to Herman and Delia Brewer Byford. He had worked most of his life as a contractor and was a member of the Coffeeville Church of Christ.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 6, 2016 from the Chapel of McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Bro. Milton Harris and Bro. Heath Lindley officiating. Interment followed in the Dividing Ridge Cemetery in Yalobusha County.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha Turner Byford; one daughter, Altra Carter (Bobby) of Gore Springs; four sons, Billy Byford, Jr. of Calhoun, GA, Michael Byford (Christy) of Batesville, Dewayne Byford (Stephanie) of Batesville and Randall Byford (Becky) of Coffeeville; fifteen grandchildren, Jessica Lacey, Billy Byford, III, Amanda Henderson, Bryan Byford, MaKenzie Byford, Ethan Laster, Julia Laster, Adam Carter, Kayla Byford, C.J. Byford, Amelia Byford, Alexis Byford, Brooklyn Byford, Jackson Byford and Katie Byford; four great-grandchildren, Savannah Lacey, Mason Byford, Cooper Byford and Abby Henderson; one sister, Inez Russell of Coffeeville; and one brother, Ralph Byford of Coffeeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruby Byford and a brother, J.D. Byford.
Pallbearers were: Michael Bardo, Jay Ingram, Jason McCullough, Scott Tribble, John Turner, Kevin Turner, Trampus Turner and Larry Turner.
James Nowlin Covington
James Nowlin Covington, 90, of Batesville, MS passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford.
He was born on January 15, 1926 to Henry Ellen Covington and Christine Waldrup Covington. He was a member of Batesville Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and was a veteran of the United States Marines. He loved his church, family and country. He was a retired carpenter, who spent most of his time in “Uncle Bubba’s” workshop.
He was known for his wooden bowls, trays, outdoor furniture, one-man boats and dulcimer instruments. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Maxine Davis Covington; one son, James “Jimmy” Covington (Suzanne); one daughter Jean Robison (Hank); 4 grandchildren, Richard Covington (Karen), Jodi Russell (Bryan); Molly Bienvenu (John) and Jason Covington (Leslie); and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at at the Batesville Presbyterian Church. Interment was held at Antioch Cemetery in Courtland, MS.

Jessie Carl “J.C.” Morris
Jesse Carl “J.C.” Morris, 72, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016 at his home in Pope, MS.
He was retired from The Oxford Eagle in Oxford, MS. He is survived by two sons, William “Billy” Morris and Phillip Morris of Colorado; two sisters, Norma Morris Gordon of Nesbit, MS and Marilyn Morris Harold of Pope, MS; two brothers, William “Mack” Morris of Batesville, MS and Thomas Morris of Pope, MS and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family memorial at a later date. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 187, Pope, MS 38658. Dickins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
