Dickins’ 3-run homer helps Lady Tigers to 7-0 shutout of Valley View

Senior Caroline Dickins’ three-run homer Saturday marked South Panola’s first homerun of the season.
The Lady Tigers (4-1 overall) traveled to Valley View High School in Jonesboro, Ark. for a non-district matchup and walked away with a 7-0 shutout.
Dickins went 1-for-3 at the plate with one hit, one run and three RBIs (runs batted in).
She also pitched the complete seven-inning game, striking out 10 of the 27 batters she faced, allowing three walks and four hits.
The game was scoreless through five innings then the Lady Tigers scored six runs in the top of the sixth and left Valley View in the dust.
The Lady Tigers added an insurance run in the seventh to seal the deal and kept Valley View from scoring.
Other hitters include Morgan Parker, 2-for-4, one run; Haley Reid, 2-for-4, two runs; Mallory Myers, 2-for-3, one run, one RBI; Sydney Morgan, 1-for-2, one double, one RBI; Chloe Morgan, 1-for-4, one run, one RBI; Amber Helmes, 1-for-3; Taylor Utz, one walk; Alli Cummins, 1-for-3; Rebekah Garner, one RBI; and Tramesha Toliver, one run.
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to host the Battle in Batesville at Trussell Park and South Panola High School Thursday and Friday, weather permitting.
There are 42 middle school, junior varsity and varsity games scheduled. Visiting teams include Grenada, Horn Lake, Water Valley, Hernando, Green Co. Tech, Desoto Central, Valley View, Southaven, Olive Branch, Strayhorn, Oxford, Independence, Cleveland, West Point, Lake Cormorant, Senatobia, New Albany and Lewisburg.
South Panola teams will play Saturday. The Middle School is scheduled for 9 a.m. and noon, the varsity at 4:30 p.m., and the junior varisty at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
