The Batesville Junior High fast pitch softball team played their first two games Monday night against the Oxford Chargers and defeated the Lady Chargers, 13-0 in the first game and 6-1 in the second game.
The Lady Tigers lead with defense as pitcher Tyler Hamby started by striking out three four batters. The Lady Tigers managed to gain six runs in the first inning as three players were walked, three hit singles, and a double hit by Kaitlyn Tidwell drove runners home.
The defense continued to show their strength as Hamby struck out two of the first three batters and the other batter was tagged out at first. Molly Seay started off the defense in the third inning by striking out two of the first three batters while the first batter was tagged out at first. The defense shut down any hope the Lady Charges had of scoring as the Lady Tigers only allowed one player on base for the entire first game.
In the second game Lady Chargers pitcher Kyra Gibson  walked five of nine batters in the first inning while two of the other four got on base due to getting hit by the pitch. The Lady Tigers scored five runs before turning over. Rebekah Cook started the defense  by walking two and striking out three of the seven batters. The defense allowed the Lady Chargers to score one run, but the Lady Tigers answered with another run batted in by Molly Seay in the second inning. Kaitlyn Tidwell pitched the third inning striking out two of five batters allowing no runs for the Lady Chargers.
The Lady Tigers play again on March 7 against Water Valley at 5 p.m. and Lafayette at 6 p.m.
