Hartridge Black

SARDIS—–Hartridge Black, 93, died Friday, December 11, 2015 in Durham, North Carolina at the VA Hospital.  He was the son of the late William and Katie Black of Sardis.     
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Level M.B. Church in Sardis.  Visitation will be held 10 a.m. until the service begins.  Burial will be in Mt. Level Cemetery.  Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.
 Black was a World War II veteran, serving as a technician fifth class in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945.  He was a retired electronics supervisor for Litton Amecom System in College Park, Maryland. He was a deacon and former member of Mt. Level  M.B. Church.
Survivors include:  his wife, Mary Black; two daughters, Yvonne and Ava Black of Memphis; and one son, Hartridge Black, Jr. of Memphis.

SARDIS––Emilie Faulkner, 77, died December 10, 2015 in Sardis. She is the wife of James Faulkner of Courtland.
Services were held Monday at Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Jerry Hankins officiated. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery in Enid. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Emilie was born November 16, 1938 to the late Duncan Dees and Gladys Turner Dees in Enid, MS. Emilie was a retired clerk after 20 plus years of service with Piggly Wiggly grocery store. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include: her husband, James D. Faulkner of Courtland, children; Melody Faulkner of Batesville, Jimmy D. Faulkner of Courtland, Clark Faulkner of Grenada, Greg Faulkner of Enid, Keith Faulkner of Senatobia, and Wade Faulkner of Courtland; four sisters; Bessie Havens of Southaven, Joyce Reeves of Linden, Tenn., Marcia Swift of Germantown, Tenn., Kaye Hutton of Flat Woods, Tenn., one brother, Roger Dees of Enid; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

William B. Rippee Jr.

William B. Rippee, Jr., 70, of Sardis, MS, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford.
Memorial services were held Monday at the First Baptist Church in Sardis. Ray Nowell Funeral Home had charge.
Rippee, born October 27, 1945 in Oakland, the late Maggie Slaughter Rippee and William B. Rippee, Sr., was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam era, and was a banker and a cattleman. He served as a Gideon and a member of First Baptist Church in Sardis.
Survivors include: his wife of 48 years, Ann Rippee of Sardis; one daughter, Dana Aldison of Sledge; one son,  William Ragan Rippee of Oxford; four sisters, Joyce Alderman of Greenville, Patsy Robinson of Avon, Darla Gregory of Randolph and Carol Nanney of Greenwood; two brothers, Elbert Rippee of Greenville and Terry Rippee of Byhalia; and nine grandchildren.
