BPD reports vandalized pickup, stolen trailer

BPD Assistant Chief-elect Jimmy McCloud reported a “good weekend” concerning reports of crime in the city limits  noting, “Downtown was really busy with Polar Express without any problems,” as the traditional holiday season begins.

Two were injured and one arrested for DUI in an accident on Panola Avenue Saturday evening according to an occurrence report written by Lieutenant Kerry Pittman.

Patrolman Ricky Terrell’s report of the same date recorded a vehicle being vandalized with a window being broken out of a pickup on the driver’s side in Westmoreland Circle.

Terrell’s report stated that the pickup was parked at the residence at 11:40 the night before and the vandalism was noticed at 9 a.m. the following morning.

Sergeant Gary Morris’s report stated a woman screaming at a residence on Court Street led officers to the home to find a female there with her children.

“She was there with her ( . . .) children. She stated that she and her husband,( . . ), got into a shouting match and he left the residence. She advised there has been trouble in their marriage, but she has never suffered any physical abuse,” the report stated.

A report by Patrolman Justin Davis stated he was dispatched to Autozone on Highway 51 at noon Sunday  in reference to shoplifting. The report didn’t mention particulars but referred to a file that had been issued for the case.

Grand larceny is alleged near Skyline Motel where a utility trailer was missing, according to Lieutenant Ruby Myers’ report.

The trailer was described as a 12’ black, double axle Barrentine with high sides and a trailer gate. A 2015 model purchased from Southland Trailers in Batesville, its estimated value was $1,549, according to the report. 

The trailer’s ID was entered into the National Crime Information Computer.
