A’Miracle Zanae Diggs
COURTLAND––A’Miracle Zanae Diggs, infant child of Tiffinia Diggs and Rex Diggs, died Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Merit Health.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Roger Howell officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Survivors along with her parents include: three siblings, Rex Diggs Jr., Damion Diggs and Zy’Kerria Diggs and her grandparents, Bessie Cole, Joe Benson and Keke Henderson.

Henry Lewis Fox
SARDIS––Henry Lewis Fox, 51, died Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Merit Health Hospital in Batesville.

Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at South Panola Junior High School Auditorium. Rev. Melvin Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be held today 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and also Saturday 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Hodges Funeral Home in Oxford has charge of arrangements.

Fox was a truck driver.

Survivors include: his parents, C.J. and Veterine Fox of Batesville; two daughters, Le’Nisha Fox and  Stacey Fox, Batesville; three sisters, Darlean Fox, Ella Benson, Sara Butler; one brother, John Wesley Fox of Batesville and eight grandchildren

Katherine “Kitty” Lee Jenkins
ROSENBERG, Texas––Katherine “Kitty” Lee Jenkins, 72, formerly of Sardis, died Saturday, November 7, 2015,  in Houston, Texas.

Services were held Wednesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg with burial following in West Gethsemane Gardens in Rosenberg.  Father Jamie Abercrombie officiated. Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

 Jenkins, born Nov. 23, 1942, in Sharon, to Evelyn Hayes Lee of Sardis and the late George Max, graduated from Sardis High School in 1960. She  was a graduate of Delta State University and worked as a flight attendant with Delta Airlines during her early career. She was a homemaker for many years, and worked in higher education and retail sales before retiring.
Survivors along with her mother, include; two daughters, Elizabeth Jansen and Katherine “Kitty” Cangelosi; one brother, Max Lee; one sister, Anne Schwerd and two grandchildren.

William Christopher Melchior
BATESVILLE––William Christopher Melchior, 47, died Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at Merit Health in Batesville.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

Melchior, born March 3, 1968 to Marlene Davis Melchior and the late William Joseph Melchior in Alexandria, Va., had an associates degree in social work.

Survivors include: his mother, Marlene Davis Melchior of Spotsylvania, Va.; two sisters; Loralea Liggett of Spotsylvania, and Victoria Eastman of Milo, Maine and one brother, Tyler Melchior of Philadelphia, Pa.

Charles Richard “Rick” Mills
Panolian employee, Charles Richard “Rick” Mills, 64, died Thursday, November 12, 2015, at his residence.

Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home with visitation from noon until service time. Dickins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. 

Mary A. Pelts
BATESVILLE––Mary A. Pelts, 74, died Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Merit Health in Batesville. She was the widow of Raymond Pelts.

Services were held Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Wells Funeral Home who had charge of arrangements. Burial was Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Pelts, was born January 16, 1941 to the late George Washington White and Tishie Smith White in Arkansas. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed sewing and quilting.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Charles Pelts.
Survivors include: three sons; Bob Pelts of Enid, Paul Pelts of Batesville and Michael Pelts of Hattiesburg; three sisters, Shirley White McCoy of Smithville, Doris White Kanski of South Carolina, and Dixie White Davison of Winter Springs, Fla.; one brother; Johnny White of Oakland, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Edward Lee Scruggs
Sardis––Edward Lee Scruggs, 80, died Friday, November 6, 2015 at Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock, Ark.

 Services were held Tuesday at Ray-Nowell Funeral Home in Sardis. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Cemetery.

He was a member of Cold Springs Methodist Church in Batesville and a former member of Sardis Volunteer Fire Department.  He was retired from the Coca Cola Bottling Company in Sardis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Riales Scruggs.

Survivors include: one daughter, Lynn Scruggs Hindman of Lonoke, Ark.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. 

Robert Kelvin “Kal” Vaxter
FLORENCE––Robert Kelvin “Kal” Vaxter, 45, died Monday, November 9, 2015, at his place of employment, Capital City Diesel in Florence where he worked as a mechanic.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Enon Missionary Baptist Church with cremains placed at the church cemetery. Eddie Robinson and Son Funeral Home has charge of local arrangements.

A nativeof Batesville, he worked as a truck driver, heavy equipment operator and was a self-taught mechanic. He was a 1988 graduate of South Panola High School.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cora Mae Fox-Vaxter.

Survivors include: his father, James Vaxter of Batesville; three sisters, Jeanette Vaxter-Jones of Memphis, Eurlene Vaxter-Patton of Memphis and Barbara Vaxter Humphrey of Batesville.

Shirley Wells
SENATOBIA––Shirley Morris Wells, 79, died Sunday, November 8, 2015, at Regional Medical Center in Memphis.

Memorial services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Senatobia Church of Christ. Mr. Phillip Mote will officiate.

Wells, born March 26, 1936, in Sardis, to the late Howard and Bernice Morris, was retired from Chrom Craft and was a member of Tyro Baptist Church in Senatobia.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Lee Wells and one son, Larry Russel Frank.

Survivors include: one daughter, Debra Mabry of Senatobia; one son, Richard Curtis Frank of Sardis; three step-daughters, Linda, Susan and Sandy; one sister, Joyce Thaggard of Laurel; three brothers, James Morris, Gerald Morris and Kelly Morris, all of Batesville; 12 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Mrs. Shirley’s honor to: Tyro Baptist Church, 6976 Looxahoma-Tyro Road, Senatobia, Miss. 38668.
