More than 200 friends of Magnolia Grove Mindfulness Center in the Red Hill community gathered Sunday for a ceremony to dedicate a new sculpture in the monastery’s garden. The sculpture depicts the center’s spiritual leader, Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh and his friend, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Speaking to the crowd is Al Lingo of Georgia, who’d been active in the civil rights movement with King in the 1960s. Shown seated to the right of the speaker are Sister Chân Không, an expatriate Vietnamese Buddhist nun who has worked closely with Thích Nhat Hanh, and the sculptor, Russian artist Alexei Kazantsev.
