Plea is not guilty in DUI death 8/18/2015

A 57-year-old Batesville man, Ira Joe Chapman, 234D MLK Drive, indicted for DUI death in the auto accident that killed Lizzie Victoria Simmons has entered a plea of not guilty, according grand jury files the Panola County Circuit Clerk. Simmons was killed November 5, 2014 in a head-on collision on rain-soaked Highway 51 near the entrance to the Finch-Henry Job Corps Center. Chapman, represented by Panola County Public Defender David Walker, entered the not guilty plea in June.
Aggravated assault
In other indictments that include counts for crimes of violence, Kandric Randuris Young, 19, was indicted for aggravated assault stemming from a Dec. 7, 2014 incident where he is alleged to have shot Kentry Wright mulitiple times with a handgun. In June, Young waived arraignment and entered a plea of not guilty. He is also represented by Walker.
Deadly weapon
George Davis Miles, Jr., 42, 100 Tiggs Road, Pope, was indicted for three counts of assault with a deadly weapon after he was alleged on February 28 to have rammed his vehicle into a vehicle driven by Terrance Hogans and occupied by Ayhuanna Miles. A third count of the indictment alleges that Miles maliciously destroyed property that belong to Hogans.
Antonia Perez Carter, was indicted for an alleged aggravated assault on Feb. 22 against Barbara Hamilton.
Nicholas Earl Johnson, 22, was indicted for four counts stemming from May 29 burglaries at two dwellings. He was also indicted for attempted rape in one incident; armed robbery in the other.
Felon with weapon
Steven Quadirous Flowers, 23, was indicted as an habitual criminal in possession of a handgun. Flowers is alleged to have had in his possession on June 10 a 9 mm semi-automatic. He had previously been sentenced in 2011 to serve 14 years for strong-armed robbery, according to the court file.
